Welcome to our blog and today’s special feature is a review of Zameen.com’s ad.
The ad went viral in a couple of hours and has over 1 million views on YouTube in just a week! You’ve probably watched the ad and have had the whole heart-wrenching experience. In case you haven’t, here you go.
The ad probably had you in tears or if you’re anything like me. You were probably fawning over how nice Fawad Khan’s eyelashes are and how well Sana Javed’s foundation was blended. Okay, coming back to the point.
Summary
The ad starts off with “Adil” in a meeting room with his rival colleague, “Ahmed”. Their boss enters the room and tells them that whoever has the better presentation will be the new CEO of the organization. “Adil” has the better presentation. He is on his way to the presentation room but then he receives an emotional video message from his son. Adil realizes that cherishing his family is much more important than his work. He makes a split second decision and decides to go attend his son’s birthday party instead of presenting his design to the IF Group. The ad transitions to an emotional father-son moment and ends with the phrase, “We can find you a house, but only you can make it a home.”
Positives
It was a new take on ads.
It was a much needed, refreshing change from those annoying, repetitive jingles and those bahu-sasu maa feuds. It was meaningful and attention grasping, in a good way.
The cinematic approach was impressive.
The cinematic feel throughout the ad, the ace acting skills and the right amount of suspense and drama. All those elements made it a visual masterpiece.
Criticism
The ad doesn’t relate to the main idea.
Emotions and Fawad Khan aside, when you’re watching the ad, no matter how immersed you are in the story. Apart of you wonders, “What is this ad really about?” After five minutes, you think it was about cherishing your loved ones and the importance of family but turns out it was about Zameen.com. Huh? What?
Yeah, same here. I think while making sure the story turns out perfect, the whole point of advertising the website was kind of lost. The “We can help you find you a house, but only you can make it a home.” Wasn’t really fitting in. Therefore the last sentence of the ad kind of threw everything off.
Nonetheless, it was an amazing ad and I would love for others to garner inspiration from it and wow us with some creative and interesting ads in the future.
That’s all for today folks! I hope you enjoyed this article.
