Everyday, we google to organize, manage and sort out our lives. From the simplest of things to the most random of questions, google does it all for us. In times where google dependency is reigning high, google will doodle an image to celebrate a certain day or a festival and subsequently everyone will stop for a moment to take stock of what just happened.
Overtime, we have begin to associate google’s doodles with important festivals and events occurring in the world. And then there is the Qawali that google doodled to pay a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on his 67th birthday, which makes one wonder the importance that the legend took in the world of web and all things google in that particular visualization.
The ‘Shehenshah of Qawali’ Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who is renowned for his music that transcends age, races, cultures and geographic boundaries can be seen in a doodle on google in six countries that include India, Pakistan, Japan, Sweden, Ghana, and Kenya. Fateh Ali may not be alive today but the legend lives on in the form of his music and his followers. He has been known to endure performances that lasted close to ten hours at a stretch and entranced his audiences in more ways than one.
Born in a music family with a rich history of symphony, Khan went on to record close to a 100 albums in Pakistan but his fame ran far and wide and spread to all parts of the world. After a life rich with music, fame and glory, Khan passed away at the age of 49 due to health problems.
Long after, even today, he trends on Twitter in Pakistan as one of the top trends as people across the country celebrate his birthday and remember the legend who brought much pride to the country and inspiration to the talent that dwells within.
Google pays tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the form of a doodle of a qawali, and it becomes yet another reason to remember and celebrate the man who brought the soul of music to the world with the power of his voice that can still be heard loud and strong.
