I can’t believe that the Wordsmith Eid-Ul-Azha event was just last week. As this was a first for the team, I wanted to make sure our readers got a first-hand overview of the event that took place at our offices on the 19th September 2015.
Wordsmith celebrated Eid-Ul-Azha with a get together for the team and came together to create some wonderful memories. We had an artsy interactive session, which included the use of our team’s artistic talents to create amazing placards. In addition to this, we learned some new skills in the form of origami. Origami sheep were made by each member of the team, ensuing fits of laughter and maddening confusion.
Placards were made to portray joyful Eid messages for the general public, and the origami sheep were added for a whimsical feel. Sohaib Mustafa was in charge of capturing every moment that day. He did such a fantastic job of making the video and made everyone feel included. Each member of the team was asked to hold up their placard and give a little Eid message to our readers.
After the filming of Eid messages, there was a short singing session. Tamour Hassan along with his guitar led the procession. ‘The answer is blowing in the wind’ by Bob Dylan seemed a song fitting to the issues surrounding us these days.
The music session was such that the ambiance allowed the Wordsmith team to reflect on where we are, how this past year had been for us and the blessings that have been bestowed on us. One thing I am surely grateful for this year, is that I had the pleasure of being a part of such a fantastic team of highly skilled individuals.
What could make the day better? I believe that food brings people together and puts a smile on everyone’s face. I made some colorful cupcakes to mark the event. They were literally gobbled down after lunch. Frosting and sprinkles marked a perfect end to a delightful event. Ayesha hosted lunch later in the afternoon and much to everyone’s surprise the food was served as soon as we were done with the activities.
The Wordsmith offices were filled with the sound of laughter throughout the day. There was never a dull moment. We are so happy that the entire Wordsmith family could participate in this Eid- Ul- Azha event and we thank them for taking out the time to come together on a Saturday morning.
The way Wordsmith celebrated Eid-Ul-Azha this year truly reflected the spirit of Eid, by spending time with those you care about and sharing the festivity wholeheartedly.

I hope that Wordsmith holds more events like this. It was a thoroughly gratifying and entertaining day. One last thought though, I would like to thank Ayesha Sohaib for arranging this fun-packed event on such short notice. Without her efforts, this experience would not have been possible.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Eid! Do share your fondest memories from this Eid. Have a great weekend!
